What is an Amil?
An Amil is a state-appointed collector of Zakat, responsible for lawful collection, record keeping, and distribution. Amileen are not private charity workers, they operate under recognized authority.
KEY DUTIES OF AMILEEN
Collect Zakat
Identifying, calculating, and collecting Zakat from eligible individuals or entities, including observing and guiding the muzakki (payers).
Maintain Record
Maintaining accurate, transparent, and detailed records of all transactions, including receipts and disbursements.
Distribute Righfully
Ensuring that the collected funds are distributed to the eight asnaf, such as the poor, needy, and others defined in the Quran.
State-Imposed Responsibility
Amileen are not private agents; they are officially appointed by the Islamic state to administer Zakat.
